Mike Evans launches foundation with fund-raising dinner
The Bucs' 2017 season is winding down in the next month, but Pro Bowl receiver Mike Evans is just getting started in launching the Mike Evans Family Foundation with three events next week.
Evans' charity will work to give college scholarships to graduating high school students from low-income families, and also support women and families battling domestic violence.
Evans and his wife, Ashli, are inviting fans to take part in their "A Catch for Christmas" campaign, with a dinner Monday night at 717 South to benefit youth and families both in Tampa and his hometown of Galveston, Texas.
"Each of these causes touches us personally, and we are eager to kick off our foundation efforts during the holidays, a difficult time for many families in our community," Evans said in a statement. "We're looking forward to a fun night and beginning the first of many efforts to support those who need it most."
Fans can purchase tickets to Monday night's dinner at 717 South for $150 each by contacting the restaurant at 813-250-1661. Table sponsorships are still available through this link. After-dinner tickets are $100, with access to players in attendance, including quarterback Jameis Winston, and the opportunity for autographs and special raffles.
Evans is also hosting a private dinner on Dec. 12 for 120 women and children who are working to overcome domestic violence in their lives, and on Dec. 13, he'll host an event for 13 selected youth who have excelled in the classroom at One Buc Place.
Evans leads the Bucs in catches (53) and receiving yards (735) and is on pace to become the first player in team history to lead the team in receiving yards four years in a row. He was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time last season and is among the Bucs' top candidates to do so again in Orlando next month.
